What We Do

The mission of DRI is to enhance the lives of people, with emphasis on underserved people and people groups in the United States and worldwide, through developing and establishing innovative, research-driven community programs in partnership with local people and organizations. Trauma healing training & support programs were developed to assist local counselors in Burundi, Africa as the country seeks to heal from decades of ethnic conflict. Children, women, families and entire communities in this small central African country have been traumatized from generations of violence, war and extreme poverty. Healing and reconciliaton are paramount to successful and lasting peace iniatives in the area. Five training missions have been conducted to provide instruction in EMDR therapeutic methods, community leader training modules, and youth leadership development program. Continued communication is in place to monitor application of concepts and provide guidance from our trainings as the local counselors apply therapeutic principles in community programs.
