What is The Do-Good-A- Thon?
The Do-Good-A-Thon is a state-wide service and kindness contest designed to cause a contagious influx of positive actions over a six-week period. The Do-Good-A-Thon is a re-visioning of the traditional marathon fundraising model that instead of raising money, increases the number of acts of service and kindness in the community.
How does it work?
- Participants track and measure the number of service acts using the entry form or UVolunteer Portal.
- Participants perform acts of service for strangers at individual or community level.
- Keep a record of the acts on the entrance form and get the stranger to sign the sheet as proof of service. Or log your volunteer hours on the UVolunteer portal.
- Get a team and work collectively to complete acts of service.
- Encourage your company to sign up as individual volunteers or group/team volunteers.
All volunteers can find volunteer opportunities on the UVolunteer Portal and choose the opportunity that ignites a passion to give of yourself to create a ripple of kindness in the world.
Each act of service will garner 1 point. At the conclusion of the contest there will be a 1-week period for participants to submit their entrance forms containing the # of acts and who if anyone referred them. A
GRAND FINALE party will occur at which awards will be given for the following:
PERSONAL IMPACT: Most Acts of Service by an Individual (individual impact)
REFERRAL AWARD: Person who referred the most people to the challenge (ripple of action)
INDIVIDUAL LOTTERY: 1 Random Drawing from individual entrants (promote individual participation)
GROUP LOTTERY: 1 Random Drawing from Group entrants (promote organizational participation)
