Welcome to the Virtual Reading Angels Team

We thank you for your time and dedication to ensuring our children receive the love of reading at home.

Here is how you can get started. We will be collecting a video from you. Timeline is a 5-minute reading session. Readers must say their first name, book title, and author's name when recording.

Please read the specific instructions below. If you have any questions, do reach out to Wanda Barrett at wbarrett@uwde.org. We will be more than happy to answer them. Enjoy your journey in giving back while staying home or working remotely.

Note: Bilingual readers are welcome to read in Spanish or Haitian Creole.

United Way of Delaware is looking for Reading Angels to read remotely to young children in Delaware.

It's easy, it's fun, but most of all, it's necessary 

It's this simple:

1.    Grab a children's book that you can read within ten minutes or less. Virtual Reading Angels either read a self-selected book or one provided by the Program to their assigned class of students.

2.    Find a quiet, well-lit spot in your home or office. 

3.    Make sure the lighting is coming from the front when you are recording.

4.    Your recording should be in landscape mode.

5.    Record a video of you reading the book and showing the illustrations on your phone or tablet.
