Helpful Tips For Writing Letters to Vets:
-
Try to be as friendly as possible; many have mental wounds and scars. They can use a nice letter that will brighten their day.
-
When addressing your letter, please start with Sir or Ma’am
-
Make sure you don’t use any words that can be misunderstood/tiger some negative message. Example: “You are the bomb!”
-
When you finish your letter, you don’t need to write your full name unless you want to.
-
Do not place your letter in a sealed envelope. (protocol from military precautions)
-
If you are writing to a Veteran in the VA Hospital, please place your letter in the assigned container. (Containers will be marked with the location information)
-
A small team of volunteers will deliver the letters directly to homeless centers, Veterans at Home of the Brave/DCHV directly to the address above. COVID19 restrictions apply. Confidentiality is in order, and POC at these locations will ensure your letter will get to the hands of the resident.

Thank you for your service is always appreciated by the veteran
