United Way of Delaware is seeking volunteers to support the 2nd Annual Jerry Hunter Community Classic on May 20, 2024.
As a Hole Watcher at United Way of Delaware's 2nd Annual Jerry Hunter Community Classic, your role is essential in ensuring fair play and maintaining the integrity of the game. Your primary responsibility will be to observe and judge any potential hole-in-one shots that occur during the tournament. Additionally, you will need to wear comfortable golf course appropriate clothing and footwear to carry out your duties effectively.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Hole-in-One Judging: Your main responsibility will be to watch the designated hole and determine if any player achieves a hole-in-one during the tournament. You will need to closely observe each shot and make an accurate judgment based on the ball's trajectory, distance, and whether it enters the hole without any interference.
2. Fair Play: As a Hole Watcher, you will ensure that players adhere to the rules and regulations of the tournament. If any violations occur, such as moving the ball or taking an improper drop, you will need to report it to the tournament officials.
3. Maintain Awareness: It is crucial to maintain constant focus and attentiveness while on duty. You should be aware of the players on the hole, their actions, and any potential hazards that may affect the outcome of a shot.
4. Communication: You may need to communicate with players, tournament officials, and fellow volunteers. Clear and concise communication is necessary to convey any relevant information or report any incidents accurately.
5. Professionalism: As a volunteer, you represent the tournament and its organizers. It is important to demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect towards players, spectators, and fellow volunteers always.
Attire:
Please dress in comfortable golf course appropriate clothing and footwear. This typically includes casual pants (no jeans) and shorts and closed toed shoes. All volunteers will receive a commemorative tee shirt. It is also recommended to bring any necessary accessories such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements.
