Tennis Rocks Mission is to provide an opportunity for our youth and families to fulfill their maximum potential academically, socially and physically. 80% of the participants are African American 10% Caucasians, 5% Hispanic and the other 5% is other. Tennis Rocks is located in the Wilmington, Delaware zip code 19802, 75% of the children live in poverty, many from single parent homes and only 5% of the adults have a college degree. On January 27, 2016 The Wilmington Community Advisory Council published a report titled “Accelerating Youth Violence Prevention and Position Development – A Call for Action”, stated that Wilmington youth need improved recreation, education, employment and mental health service. If they are going to avoid becoming victims and perpetrators of gun violence as adults. The council recommends early intervention, ongoing support and coordinated community services for at-risk youth in Wilmington. Recommendations target youth 4 to 18 years living in high- need neighborhoods, include, build up the capacity of organizations such as Tennis Rocks to provide educational, visual arts, music, recreation, sports and financial literacy. Tennis Rocks Tutoring & Music Association (Tennis Rocks) provides year round after school and summer tennis and tutoring activities for participants from first grade through college. Adults are served with additional programs. We use Tutoring and Music and Anger Management to address educational needs and tennis to develop physical fitness, healthy lifestyles and essential life skills. Our State Certified Credit Recovery Program works with students from 8th through 12th grade in need of academic credits. We currently work with The Red Clay School District, The Brandywine School District, The Colonial School District and The Christina School District as well as Charter Schools. Tennis Rocks is the only tennis, tutoring and music program with an administrative office and facility located in the city of Wilmington. Tennis Rocks has administrative offices and holds its tutoring, music and anger management programs at 203 W. 23rd street Wilmington Delaware 19802. Our primary Summer Tennis Facility is hold at Haynes Park and Tennis Courts. Our ambassador program takes Tennis Activities into the neighborhood community center, Wilmington Parks Recreations-Neighborhood Program and into the parks. Our winter tennis program is located at Hockessin Indoor Tennis Facility.
