Who We Are
Open Streets is a shared front yard, a mobile Central Park, a place for neighbors to spend time together. Open Streets Wilmington takes place once a month, closing streets to motor vehicles to create space for outside activity. Walk, bike, run, roller blade, dance. Visit local businesses. Enjoy children’s activities, fitness classes and much more!
Open Streets Wilmington is a collaborative initiative of Urban Bike Project, West Side Grows Together, and the Open Streets Wilmington steering committee.
What We Do
Open Streets events take place in cities all over the United States and the world, and the idea is pretty simple – close down a street to motor vehicle traffic and transform the street into community space for residents of all ages and abilities to spend time outside walking, biking, jogging, skateboarding, dancing, and more. Open Streets promotes health and wellness, supports local businesses, and builds community.
